We understand your concerns about the security of the information you provide to purchase products on our web site.  We share your concerns and do the following things to protect you:

• We have secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption with our own digital certificate
• Your credit card information is not transmitted to us from our secure servers
•  We do not keep your credit card information on file if you order via phone

An SSL certificate provides 128 bit encryption to protect all information being transmitted from your web browser to our secure server. This means your information is protected (encrypted) before it is sent over the Internet.

Your credit card information is never transmitted from our secure server to us. Our secure server is setup to not show us your credit card information. This means that after your order is approved and your credit card is charged this information is not available to us. When we download your order we are not downloading your credit card information. All we can see is the last four numbers. Also, once phone orders are processed into our system we are unable to see this information. There is no paper trail of this information. We apologize to those customers who like us to have their complete order information on file but we think this is the most secure way to protect this information for you.

It would be very unusual to have someone break into our office here in rural Maine and steal our hard drive.  Fortunately if this were to happen we don't have to worry that your credit card information has been compromised because we won't have this information on our hard drive.
